Partners in Hope USA exists to support and develop ministries helping vulnerable populations, especially widows, orphans, children of prisoners, and prisoners by way of spiritual formation, education, and helping to meet other basic needs such as food, clean water, clothes, and medical supplies.
Partners in Hope seeks to glorify God by serving others through Christ-centered nurturing, care and education. Our core values above all are to love God and others through sacrificial service and provision.
The vision of Partners in Hope is to become a leader in the provision of Christ-reflective care to vulnerable populations particularly prisoners and their families by means of education, basic needs support and spiritual development.
We were inspired to work with prisoners and their families when we traveled to Uganda on a mission trip in 2009. While we were there we worked with Wells of Hope Ministries, a non-profit, Christian organization in Uganda, Africa which opened our eyes to the vulnerable population of prisoners and their families. We were made aware of the neglect of this population and inspired to make it a focus of our lives to raise awareness, make an impact, and provide hope in the name of Christ for these often forgotten ones.
When we returned home, we were overwhelmed by the task but knew that with God’s help anything is possible. We soon realized that forming a non-profit would be necessary in order to provide the best support to these vulnerable populations. It was a long and learning journey, but in December, 2012 we got the exciting news that the IRS accepted our application and Partners in Hope USA became an official non-profit! We are now dedicated to serving these vulnerable populations with a current focus on Wells of Hope in Uganda with a readiness to implement this model elsewhere if the Lord leads.
Since our journey to Africa in 2009, Wells of Hope has begun construction on a school for children of prisoners. These children are often the ones who suffer the most from their parents crimes. They are often left without any hope for the future because support from their families and communities is often cut off because of the stigma of having a parent in prison. Wells of Hope Academy offers hope and a future for these children who otherwise would have no where to turn to except for unspeakable and heat-breaking options. These are children who have dreams of becoming doctors, nurses, teachers, even the president of Uganda, and we are hoping to keep these dreams alive and achievable!
In 2012 a member from our team and a supporter were able to travel to Uganda to see the school’s progress and encourage the team there. While there is still much work to do, we are still encouraged. The team working on the ground in Uganda is dedicated, selfless, and hard-working. There are plans for the future which include a piggery, grain mill, gardens, and goats which will help the school become more self-sustainable. Partners in Hope is dedicated to continue to support Wells of Hope to complete the school for children of prisoners and also provide continued support in the school’s operating expenses.
Currently, our main focus is to raise support for Wells of Hope in Uganda, Africa. We are hoping to aid in the completion of construction of Wells of Hope Academy, a school for children of prisoners, in addition to providing for daily care needs to prisoners and their families in Uganda in order to exhibit Christ’s love for them.
So far we have been able to contribute to the following projects:
Construction of Wells of Hope Academy: aided in purchasing the land, construction materials for the dorm block and classrooms including floors, bricks, wood, windows, toilets, and plaster.
Spiritual Formation: prison ministry and bible teaching.
Basic Needs Support: provided funds for water wells to supply the school with fresh water, planted fruit trees, provided basic medical supplies and medical training.
